Project Description

The Port of San Diego currently operates two active maritime cargo terminals that support regional, national, and international freight movement. Existing cargo handling operations rely on a combination of conventional diesel-powered equipment and supporting infrastructure that contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, criteria air pollutants, and operational inefficiencies. As part of the District's long-term sustainability strategy, the District has initiated several projects to modernize terminal operations through electrification and deployment of zero-emission freight infrastructure.
